Bloomsburg University Women's Basketball Defeats Chestnut Hill

BLOOMSBURG -Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) scored 15 points of her 24 points in the first half to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 77-49 win over Chestnut Hill College in the Patriot Inn Huskies Tip-off Classic opener on Saturday evening in head coach Bill Cleary's debut.

The Huskies took the lead early in the game at the 14:52 mark when Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) , who scored all of her 11 points in the first half, began a 15-2 run over the Griffins with a lay-up and a three-point shot. Kegerreis followed up with a three-point play, while Joyce hit another shot from behind the arc at the 8:47 mark. Bloomsburg would end the half with a 15 point lead at 37-22, answering back every time the Griffins scored.

In the first five minutes of the second half, the Huskies went on an 8-0 run and did not look back. The Huskies would lead by as many as 33 points in the second half.

Freshman Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) scored 14 points while Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) had nine points and 11 assists.

The Huskies will play C.W. Post tomorrow at 4:00p.m. in day two of the Patriot Inn Huskies Tip-off Classic.
